Know More About Indoor Air Pollution

When we think of Air Pollution, we tend to think about the air outside. It may not feel that way, but the air inside can actually be much more polluted. This is because some pollutants are emitted from building and construction materials and indoor equipment. These pollutants degrade the quality of air within your home. Amongst the global authorities calling attention to this issue is the World Health Organization which recently published a guide to Indoor Air Quality.

Indoor Air Pollution is important because we spend a substantial amount of time indoors. Breathing in polluted air can lead to a whole host of health issues, from headaches to sever respiratory disorders. One of the major indoor air pollutants is formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is emitted by construction materials including plywood, MDF and adhesives – all of which are used in making furniture. The resins used in the manufacture of these adhesives degrade and emit formaldehyde.

Formaldehyde has been known to have severe health issues. This is why there are regulations abroad on composite wood products that emit formaldehyde. Sadly, these regulations are missing in India.

With innovation being at the heart of everything we do at Asian Paints, we took up the challenge to help you breathe better at home. So after meticulous research, tests and experiments, we came up with an all new revolutionary paint, Royale Atmos- your first line of defence against indoor air-pollution. It reduces the hazardous pollutant - Formaldehyde, so you can breathe cleaner air.

Another aspect that degrades indoor Air is the foul smells that persist within a room. These bad odours linger and act as air irritants. Royale Atmos also improves air quality by absorbing certain foul smells. There is a select range of household odours that it absorbs including nicotine, ammonia, hydrogen sulphide, sweat, garlic amongst others.
