The sophisticated design takes into account the character of its occupants and the luxurious views offered by the high-rise building. The house, in Deborup’s words, bears a “Made in India” stamp, as every furniture piece has been meticulously handcrafted.
The living areas are painted in a consistent shade of beige matching the high-gloss marble flooring. The furniture complements this neutral tone, with a subtle differentiation in the two areas – a dirty brown suede in one, and faded pink in another.
Accents like blooms, and salmon coloured cushions pop out; while dark wooden borders in the ceiling tie the space together by matching with the colour of the doors and frames. The wooden ceiling panels in the corridor lead one to the bedrooms.
The cream and brown colour palette for interior surfaces has been maintained in all the bedrooms. The upholstery and furnishing, like other rooms, have been kept grey or neutral. Sleek wooden furniture adds to the classic aesthetic of the space.
Light plays a major role in all of the rooms as the beautiful sky at dusk and dawn adds a gorgeous view to the interiors. The guest bedroom uses cove lighting, spotlighting as well as pendant lights to create a warm glow in the room.
The bar cabinet as well as the display partitions in deep brown, hold playful and colourful artefacts. This balances the dominant presence of the dining and other stark wooden surfaces in the house.
Throughout the house all wooden surfaces have been finished with products from the WoodTech range: such as WoodTech PU and Polyester on the glossy surfaces and Melamyne on the semi-gloss surfaces.
The stout console complements the faceted wall panel behind while its colour matches the sleek console table. The horizontal bands of the console contrast the vertical stripes of the armchairs. This play of patterns makes the entrance dynamic.
Against the backdrop of the blue skies, the subdued colours of the living room and the gloss of the tables feel even more luxurious. Under the yellow glow of the lights, the salmon colour of the seating appears even more pronounced.
The master bedroom has bold colours and surface treatments. The white bedside table is finished with WoodTech Insignia, a premium wood finish product by Asian Paints. The burgundy chairs and the slim centre table balance the dramatic windows.
In the master bedroom, laminated wood panels have been used abundantly in the TV console and to frame the master-bed. The console is finished with WoodTech Insignia, a premium wood finish from Asian Paints, in a unique hammered-pearl effect.
The design plays with light and dark surfaces and negative-positive spaces throughout. In the son’s bedroom wooden doors, panels and borders alternate to create interest. The dining area juxtaposes a charcoal brown shade against neutral surfaces.
