361 Degrees – The Design Conference, 2017

A 2-day annual architecture forum initiated by Indian Architect & Builder magazine in Mumbai, addressing the emergence of an “Architectural Revolution”, to meet the challenges of designing in the digital century.

The 361 Degree Conference is an annual architecture and design forum, held in Mumbai and organised by Indian Architect & Builder magazine, exploring a multitude of  practices and professionals who have had a significant impact on our built habitats.

In its 10th edition, the conference addresses the emergence of an “Architectural Revolution”, to meet the challenges of designing in the digital century. Challenges that are a reaction to the diversity of needs, culture, climate, landscape and economies and are an invariable part of modern day existence. From digitally enhanced designs, to invisible architecture, to the latest 3-D Printed modules, the digital era has served as an impetus to several previously untried design processes.

The theme attempts to create discourses about the ‘Architecture of the Future’, by analysing the impact of technology towards enhancing digital design solutions and the contextual response of architecture to location, environment, political and social settings, and their evolvement through time.

Speakers include Patrick Schumacher (Zaha Hadid Architects, UK), Cecil Balmond (Balmond Studio, UK), Julian Treasure (The Sound Agency, USA), Anne-Cécile Comar (Atelier du Pont, France), J Scott Kilbourn (Perkins Eastman, USA), Gokhan Avcioglu (GAD Architects, Turkey), Manit Rastogi (Morphogenesis, India), Brinda Somaya (Somaya and Kalappa Consultants, India), Vikas Delawari (Vikas Delawari Architects, India) and Soumitro Ghosh (Mathew and Ghosh Architects, India) among others.
