“Every home should have a touch of organically developed elements”, says Architect Swapnil Jaggi as he explains the rationale behind the design of the vibrant yet muted, Bougainvillea. A Raipur based dwelling that houses three bedrooms, a home theatre room, a temple room and a living room, this comfy and inviting house is the perfect reflection of how aesthetically pleasing Scandinavian interiors are.

Subtlety and vibrancy converge in this Raipur home.

Sprawled across 2328 – square feet, one realizes that the serene abode – Bouigainvillea, gets its name from the abundance of Bougainvillea plants that welcome you right at the entrance. Before you set foot into the house, mesmerising elements like Spanish tile patterns, a European styled framework of windows and a grand door set the tone of the space. The contemporary, Scandinavian design of the home becomes the focal point as soon as you enter.

“The client’s brief was simple – a contemporary, European styled home with pastel colours and open spaces. Our team developed the idea of giving the space Scandinavian interiors as that seemed the apt choice, considering the size of the property and the client’s likes”, explained SJ. In tandem with the all-white interiors is the attractive white marble idol of Lord Ganesha in the temple room. The brilliantly placed water body with thematic pebbles bring life and calm to space.

When coaxed about revealing the most favourite space in the entire house, SJ explained that the dining - kitchen space and the temple lend a calming aura to the whole house, making these areas his most preferred. The open kitchen with potted plants highlighting the Scandi interiors and the wooden dining table lay the foundation of the rustic minimalistic ambience the team was rooting for. The European chandelier fixed on a round mirror base brightens the space and lends a touch of gloss to the wooden table.

While the rest of the house is a stark representation of subtlety and muted elegance, the kids’ room is taken over by a bright yellow and black & white theme colour. The Dark Knight theme maintained through the room is reflected intricately in the furniture of the space and the wallpaper. Asian Paints Emporio PU enabled the team to give every furniture piece, including the cabinet knobs, a shine that enhanced the overall look.

The bergère chair placed on a bed of grass below the living room stairs alongside the colour boxed cupboard sets the archetype for the European inspired interiors. To minimize wastage, the couple ensured most of their furniture was upcycled.
