Located in the quaint town of Marcel – Goa, Dr. Ugam Tari’s apartment exudes a sense of inherent calmness and flawlessly infuses contemporary style. The home makes you escape the hoary jostle of everyday life, plunging headlong into your own ocean of serenity, albeit à la mode. Reimagined and designed by KIC_Concept to Creation, the sprawling residential space houses a living room, dining area, 3 bedrooms, a Devghar and is occupied by Mr. & Mrs. Tari and their young daughter.

A traditional home with a modern soul.

A massive entrance door with Sapeli veneer finish and a mini seating area welcome you to this warm and peaceful abode. Exquisite décor, expansive rooms, ambient lighting and a clean contemporary design make it a delightful space. The home is a combination of art, furniture and traditional elements that keep you grounded to your culture. The soft hues and material palette is pleasing to the eyes and lends an elegant vibe to the space.

Initially, we were asked to revamp only parts of the existing twin apartment. However, when we shared our vision of renovating the entire dwelling and infusing it with a vibe that resonated with the homeowners, our team was on-board and the brainstorming kickstarted.

The Devghar or House Temple is the highlight of the space. Simple aesthetics, a minimalistic palette and the hand chiselled basalt stone walls are the driving points of this divine room. The moment you set foot in here, you feel calm.

Minimalism is our forte. The client envisioned a space that was neat, functional and easy to maintain and we gave him just that. Keeping the client’s vision at core, the team at KIC_Concept to Creation conceptualized a residence that imbibed Goa’s nonchalant vibe and blended that with modern décor. We picked a classy neutral colour scheme from Asian Paints’ Royale Health Shield range for the entire house since the couple wanted a house that was easy to maintain and the entire range is extremely durable and easily washable.

The velvet upholstery and Asian Paints’ Whispering Smoke shade add glam to the living room.

Colour has the power to completely change your home. The shade you pick for your walls can take the interiors from dull to dashing. Asian Paints has a myriad of colours to choose from and the complementary colour scheme offers a unique texture and base for your décor.

For the daughter’s room, we wanted to keep the vibe playful and young. The multipurpose closet filled with plush toys, the mauve pink curtains and the wooden furniture helped us achieve that.

The Asian Paints’ Woodtech Melamyne Matte used to give the natural wooden finish behind the deity in the Devghar ups the ante of the serene space. The interior wall finish and texture helped highlight the centre idol and lights up the entire room. The versatility of the shade, the base that the product offers and the diyas offer the perfect backdrop to the Goddess.

My favourite space would be the grand living room. Bathed in natural sunlight, the appealing comfort and classic view of the attached verandah are two highlights that can uplift your mood even on a dull day.

Merging two apartments into one gives you the liberty of space. However, it also makes you responsible to utilize the space effectively. Getting the client to believe in your design vision is the biggest challenge.

Every Asian Paints product used in the space has a specific reason to it and enabled us to elevate the room and add to its glam. For instance, the First Frost shade used in the dining and kitchen area is subtle and helps soothe your eye.
