“Traditionally, Indian houses had barriers between formal and informal spaces, we decided to play against this design philosophy. To keep the kitchen space modern yet rooted was a challenge. We executed an open kitchen, albeit designed like traditional, closed ones”, explained Udayveer. The kitchen faces towards the East and features large windows which ensure that ample sunlight enters the space, lending it a positive, bright and airy ambience. The bespoke kitchen is in tandem with the overall grand vibe and theme of the rest of the home.
Talking about his most favourite space in the manor, Udayveer picked the first floor sitting area. Connected to the master bedroom, this lounge area can be utilized for when the residents have close friends and family visiting them. “This area has not been given any false ceiling, to maintain the original height of the room. The sloping traditional roof painted with simple a Asian Paints shade, is used in a modern way. The sheer grandeur of this room is what strikes a chord with you.”
“The spacious balcony attached to the master bedroom is a cozy private space in itself. Taking inspiration from Indian palaces where Queens were given the luxury to observe the outdoors however, no one from the outside could ever see the Queen, we have made use of MS louvres in the balcony. Bearing in mind the security of the residents, these louvres are designed with a similar concept and exude a dignified and rich style with the natural wood finish used from Asian Paints”, explained Thakur Udayveer.
