Deco design began in Europe in 1908 where Art Nouveau was still popular. This trend caught on fast and is still a favourite among many, for it is primarily very simple to understand and implement.
Art deco saw a geometric abstraction of natural forms. Flowers, the sunrise, shells were now graphics that were composed of platonic shapes and forms. The Chrysler Building in New York is a perfect example of the same. Pyramid- and sphinx-inspired shapes also started appearing as a part of this art movement.
Art deco design is bold and visually heavy or bulky. Shapes are to be at the forefront while designing the elements within this space. If the old-world charm with a touch of modernized forms is what you're looking for then Art Deco works perfectly in that bracket.
