Sidecar, located in Delhi, borrows its name from the namesake English cocktail. The interior design and décor is thus inspired by a neighbourhood English bar that functions like a lively café during the day and a familiar bar at night. Finesse Design, led by Ritika Agrawal, redesigned this warm and classic space. It’s neo-classical influence is apparent in the colour tones, materials and textures, and in the wall-prints and framed artworks.

Traditional wooden finishes that age gracefully

The décor of Sidecar makes use of warm and dark tones in the furniture, wall claddings, shelves and bar; cool blue handcrafted cushions and upholstery, complemented by the classic mid-century-inspired furniture.

Wood and Archi Concrete are the most prominent material used throughout. This dark wood finish from the Asian Paints’ WoodTech range gives the space a seasoned vibe, much like the neighbourhood bars or speakeasies across Europe.

Sidecar has cozy corners and comfy seating that invokes a sense of familiarity. The texture on the interior walls of Royale Play Archi Concrete stands exposed, a stunning yet subdued finish and an apt backdrop for banter.

Sidecar is just as charming during the day as it is at night. The dark wooden surfaces polished with WoodTech finishes, the rustic Archi Concrete wall finish, and the large windows create an ambiance that changes with daylight.

Sidecar is meant to feel like a community setting that makes people feel like they are in a seasoned space. Whether it is a cup of coffee or a cocktail, Sidecar’s welcoming ambiance, vintage art and cosy furniture make the occasion special.

Royale Play Archi Concrete, a finish with an industrial-era charm, adds beauty to even the seemingly mundane walls along the staircase. The exposed concrete finish on the walls gives the space a handcrafted look.

All the materials that make up the space - the dark wood finish of the WoodTech range, the rough Archi Concrete finish, the posters and frames, the upholstery in accent colours and plush cushions - come together to invoke a sense of graceful ageing.

The dark wood finish from Asian Paints’ WoodTech range used extensively throughout Sidecar recreates the romance and history of European bars and speakeasies.

The artworks at Sidecar take one back in time to the industrial age, when scientific query and discovery were rife. They add a parallel narrative of found objects collected over time. Archi Concrete acts as the perfect canvas for the illustrations.

The tone throughout Sidecar is sepia. The colours used don’t overpower, instead, they harmoniously coexist and play their part in the overall story. The restraint of Archi Concrete on the interior wall finishes brings out their best features.
