Pre-painting steps

Sanding

Sand the wooden surface along the grains using sand paper no. 180 and then 320 or 400

Insulating

Apply 1-2 coats of WoodTech Epoxy Insulator to insulate from oil & resin from the wood

Dent filling

If the surface has dents apply WoodTech Filler with a putty knife over the dented area

Staining

To colour apply WoodTech Wood Stains Interiors or WoodTech Wood Stains Exteriors by ragging or spraying. Allow to dry for 30 to 120 minutes

How to Apply WoodTech Melamyne Gold Clear?

Step 1: Cleaning and Surface Preparation

Ensure the wood is clean, moisture balanced (10-15%), and free from dust, grease, or contaminants.
Sand the surface along the grain using sandpaper no. 180, finish with no. 320 or 400, and wipe clean.

Step 2: Sealer Application

Mix WoodTech Melamyne Gold Clear Sealer with the recommended thinner and hardener in a 90:10 ratio.
Apply two coats of sealer with spray or brush, allowing it to dry for 5-6 hours (spraying) or 8-10 hours (brushing). Sand lightly between coats.

Step 3: Finish Coating

Mix your choice of gloss or matt topcoat with a hardener in the required ratio.
Apply one or two finish coats by spray or brush, with a minimum recoat period of 5-6 hours. Sand between coats as necessary.

Step 4 (Optional): Additional Coats

For enhanced durability, apply a third coat after sanding with sandpaper no. 320/400.
