COVID-19

Efforts at Sri Lanka

How we cope with

Crisis

The Unit was closed on March 16th onwards as country wide Curfew was called and structured work from Home regimen started. It was ensured relevant development work, cost saving ideation work, RM price reduction work and dealer engagement work over phone calls. When it was clear that Curfew is there to stay – it looked like our unit would be facing a 0 sale situation for the first time in History. The unit Management team got together to discuss the possibility of opening the factory with skeletal staff if we have any export order. We contacted the police and requested them to allow us to open the factory to ensure we can service the export order. There are certain protocols to be followed to get a curfew pass. We got a go ahead from the Public Health Inspector.

Once the curfew pass was recieved, we started depot sanitization for work to commence. We obtained a vehicle pass for outside districts from SSP of police & applied to IGP Office. We started billing for last 4 days of April. Ensured Material trapped in Vessels cleaned out completely – there was very minimal material loss. As a result we sold 229KL of Material in April with 24mn of value in April 2020.
