SmartCare Hydroloc Xtreme

SmartCare Hydroloc Xtreme from Asian Paints is an excellent waterproofing solution that can be used on interior walls. This ready-to-use waterproofing product does not involve breaking down plaster before application.

SmartCare Hydroloc Xtreme provides homeowners relief from yearly plastering and the application of waterproofing chemicals. It works effectively against efflorescence and dampness. This is a great solution for homes having issues with leaks, seepage, and moisture because it comes with a 5-year waterproofing warranty.

The shelf life of this waterproofing solution is 24 months. However, it’s not advisable to use SmartCare Hydroloc Xtreme for areas suffering dampness and moisture levels of over 90%. The product must be safely stored and carefully used.

How to Apply Hydroloc Xtreme?

Here's a snapshot of the process:

1. Surface Preparation

The surface must be prepared for the application of SmartCare Hydroloc Xtreme. This waterproofing treatment requires the surface to be free of plaster, black spots, powder, moisture, moss, or oil. The area must be firm. If the surface is crumbly, replastering needs to be carried out. This should be followed by thorough water washing.

2. Filling Pores, Dents, and Cracks

Large pores, dents, and surface cracks must be filled with SmartCare Crack Seal. Polymer-modified cement mortar can be applied to larger cracks and damaged portions. The application must be started only after the complete curing of the masonry work.

3. Treating Efflorescence Surfaces

In the case of efflorescence surfaces, a wire brush or efflorescence cleaner can remove the existing efflorescence. The existing putty must be removed till the plaster level. Nearly a foot extra area must be prepared for the application of SmartCare Hydroloc Xtreme.

4. Applying SmartCare Hydroloc Xtreme

Using a brush, apply two applications of SmartCare Hydroloc Xtreme. The first coat is diluted with 10% water, while the second coat is left undiluted. Every coat should be allowed to dry for around 6–8 hours.

The initial layer of SmartCare Hydroloc Xtreme needs to be applied with a forced coverage of 35 to 40 sq. ft. per liter in regions without efflorescence.

5. Final Treatment

The area must then be treated with Asian Paints SmartCare Waterproof Putty, Asian Paints TruCare Wall Putty, or Asian Paints TruCare Acrylic Wall Putty. A final coat of primer is recommended.

Tips for applying SmartCare Hydroloc Xtreme

To achieve the best results with SmartCare Hydroloc Xtreme, follow these guidelines:

• Single Coat for Non-Damp Areas:

Apply one coat at a forced coverage of 35–40 sq. ft. per liter in areas free from efflorescence or dampness

• Double Coat for Damp Areas:

For areas with dampness or efflorescence, apply two coats at a forced coverage of 20 sq. ft. per liter

• Primer Guidelines:

Do not apply a primer over SmartCare Hydroloc Xtreme. Instead, apply putty directly on top

• Putty Application:

Use only recommended putty, such as Asian Paints SmartCare Waterproof Putty. Avoid using handmade or Lambi putty

• Preparation:

Stir the product thoroughly before use to ensure even consistency

• Application Conditions:

Avoid applying the product during periods of high humidity or low temperatures to prevent improper curing
